-THE ACACIA GROVE-
There is this city east of the Jordan River called the Abila meaning the Acacia Grove. This acacia grove is very unique because it is the end of one journey and yet the beginning of another. This Acacia Grove was a place: equipping, directing, sparking and connecting for a specific purpose. This land had a purpose. It was the land of preparation. You see this Acacia Grove is the land where God came to and spoke Joshua 3 days before he was to cross over to the promise land… This Acacia Grove was the 42nd and last encampment of Moses and his journey, but it is the spring board for Joshua and his adventure to come. If we can peak just briefly into the promise land, than we would see a land full of life, full of hope, full of promise, full of purpose, because it is a land full of God. But it is also a land that Joshua had to fight to attain. You see God came to Joshua in the Acacia Grove three days before this journey was to begin. And He came for one purpose, to prepare Joshua for the journey ahead. He told Joshua to enter boldly, never to fear for He will always be with him. Again he was preparing him for the journey, He was preparing him for life. This Acacia Grove was a place God used to SPARK a complete change in the Israelites. .. They were always coming to the river, but never crossing. All they needed was a spark.
We believe the above story perfectly parallels the definition of the retreat. Students are ending one journey yet beginning another. They are coming to the retreat 3 days before their college journey begins. And God will use this time to equip, spark, and prepare the students to boldly enter this new land.
