World Vision came to Mauritania in the 1970s as a response to the eminent drought that affected the whole region of West Africa. World Vision established a National Office in Nouakchott 1983.
World Vision currently has three Bases in Mauritania through which it has been cooperating with the Mauritanian government and communities to provide a range of long-term development, resiliency, and emergency relief initiatives. World Vision Mauritania operates in the regions of Nouakchott, Brakna, and Assaba. These Bases include 15 ADPs (Area Development Program): 4 in Nouakchott, 6 in Brakna, and 5 in Assaba. World Vision Mauritania is committed to contributing to World Vision’s Child Well-Being Aspirations and Global Targets through its national strategy, which will focus on the following strategic objectives:
